Adidas has several overlapping running ranges, so choosing by name alone is difficult. The useful starting point is simple: Supernova for everyday training, Adizero for speed and racing, Ultraboost for a more cushioned and versatile feel, and Terrex for trails.

This guide summarizes the brand’s current product positioning. It does not claim that every model in a family fits or rides the same way.

Start with Supernova for everyday running

Adidas describes Supernova as a versatile daily-running range, with models intended to balance comfort and support. It is the most obvious place to start for a new runner or for regular training at an easy pace.

Several Supernova versions may be sold at the same time. Compare the exact model name, width, midsole, and upper rather than relying on the Supernova label by itself.

Look at Adizero for faster running

Adizero is the speed-focused family. It includes shoes intended for faster training as well as more specialized race-day models such as the Adios Pro line.

That does not make every Adizero the right daily shoe. A light, aggressive model may be less comfortable for easy miles than a regular trainer. Decide whether you are replacing an everyday shoe or adding a second shoe for workouts and races.

Consider Ultraboost for cushioning and mixed use

Adidas positions Ultraboost around cushioning, comfort, and energy return. Some current models are listed for road running, treadmill use, walking, or everyday wear.

Read the use labels on the exact product page. The Ultraboost name has appeared on both performance-running and lifestyle-oriented versions, and the upper can feel different from a traditional mesh running shoe.

Choose a trail shoe for off-road use

Road shoes are designed around pavement and smoother surfaces. For mud, loose gravel, and uneven trails, look at Adidas Terrex running models with an outsole and upper intended for off-road use.

A trail outsole can feel unnecessarily firm or aggressive on pavement, so choose for the surface you use most often.

Get the size from your foot measurement

Measure heel to toe on both feet while standing, then use the longer foot with the Adidas size chart. Do not convert from another brand’s US size without checking the corresponding heel-to-toe measurement.

A running shoe should hold the heel, support the midfoot, and leave room for the toes to spread. Adidas also notes that a sock-like upper may feel smaller than a conventional mesh upper in the same nominal size.
